Dr Pauline M. Koreyasu

Dr. Pauline M. Koreyasu, DVM, grew up on the windward side of Oahu. As a young girl, she loved animals and was awed by the farriers as they worked on the horses at Kualoa Ranch. She attended Kahuku School from kindergarten through twelfth grade, graduating as valedictorian of her class. She furthered her education at Chapman College and the University of Hawai'i, graduating with honors with a Bachelors of Science in Education. Dr. Koreyasu attended graduate school at Colorado State University to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.

After graduation, she completed an internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York, New York. In Staten Island, New York, she began her first job at Richmond Valley Animal Hospital. Dr. Koreyasu returned home to Hawaii after a year and was employed at University Pet Clinic. After five years, she partnered with Dr. Gleason Hirata to open Kapalama Pet Hospital. And now, after 16 years of practice, Dr. Koreyasu brings her medical and surgical skills to Kaka'ako Pet Hospital, a veterinary hospital that became a reality after many years of planning. Along with these skills, Dr. Koreyasu offers a special interest in veterinary dentistry, acupuncture, and Chinese herbal medicine.

Dr. Koreyasu is a member of the Honolulu Veterinary Society and the Hawai'i Veterinary Medical Association. She is also licensed to practice in the state of Hawaii, California, Colorado, and New York.

Dr. Warren Sakamoto

We are delighted to have in our growing family of veterinary expertise, Dr. Warren Sakamoto, a Hawaii native of the Big Island and a 1980 Graduate of the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. There he was a member of the Phi Zeta veterinary honor society. In 1989 he successfully became a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, Canine and Feline Specialty. At present he is the only Diplomate of the ABVP in the State of Hawaii. In 1999 he completed the Veterinary Acupuncture Curriculum at the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and subsequently passed the written and practical exams by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. He recently sold his AAHA practice in Long Beach California and returned to Hawaii.

The excellence of his expertise and caring are immediately obvious. Dr. Sakamoto shares the drive for furthering his education which is in fact a requirement for maintaining his Diplomate status with the ABVP. When not working he volunteers at the Hawaiian Humane Society doing spays, neuters, ophthalmic and orthopedic procedures. He is an avid saltwater fisherman travelling to Sitka Alaska, San Diego, and Mexico, in the unending quest for the “Big One”. As of late he is trying to figure out the local fishing scene. Otherwise, he is usually seen with his jack russell terrier “Libby Dee” at the local parks and beaches.
